Dennise Benavides, MOT, OTR
Dennise received her Bachelor’s of Psychology degree from St. Edward’s University in 2007. In 2012, she graduated with a Master’s of Occupational Therapy from University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Since graduation she has practiced occupational therapy in the California East Bay Area and Phoenix, Arizona. During this time she gained experience within the school system and outpatient/inpatient settings. Dennise moved back to Austin, Texas and began working at MLee Therapy at the beginning of May 2014.
Dennise is a board certified occupational therapist through the NBCOT (National Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners) and is licensed to practice in the state of Texas. She extensive training in sensory integration techniques, reflex integration, and has completed courses in sensory-based feeding aversions. Dennise is Sensory Integration Certified (SIPT), certified in the Handwriting Without Tears program, Beckman Oral Motor program and has received several levels of training within the Masgutova Neurosensoryimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) method. Additionally, Dennise is certified in both the Interactive Metronome (IM) and Integrated Listening System (ILS).
Dennise has experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders, gross/fine motor delays, oral motor delays, sensory processing disorder, genetic disorders, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, attention deficit disorder and handwriting difficulty. During her free time, Dennise loves to spend time outdoors, swimming and spending time at dog parks with her dog, Riley.
